For wireless remote water meter reading systems, the primary network capabilities required include a reliable Internet connection for the system's gateway. Options for connectivity include Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection directly from a router. If on-site Internet is unavailable, you can opt for cellular service by paying an annual fee, which allows the gateway to function without a traditional Internet connection.
Additionally, it's important to note that this system is designed for use within a single property; all meters must be located on that same property. Therefore, if your plant has meters placed hundreds of feet apart but still within one site, they can operate effectively under one system. However, if there are different properties involved (e.g., multiple buildings spread out), each would require its own setup.
For specific assistance or further questions about implementation in your facility, reaching out via phone during business hours would provide personalized support and guidance tailored to your needs.
how do I measure the diameter of the spigot line to determine the size?
To measure the diameter of the spigot line, you can use a tape measure or calipers. Here's how to do it:
1. **Locate the Spigot:** Find the area where the spout connects to your water source.
2. **Measure the Outer Diameter:** Use a tape measure or calipers to measure across the widest part of the spigot's opening (the outer diameter). Make sure you're measuring straight across for an accurate reading.
3. **Determine Inner Diameter if Necessary:** If you want to know the inner diameter (which is typically what matters for fittings), you may need to look inside or use a smaller tool like a dowel rod that fits snugly into the opening and then measure that.
For standard garden hoses and spigots, they usually have a common size around 5/8 inch inner diameter, which allows both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch meters to fit with appropriate adapters. Once you've measured, choosing between those sizes will depend on your flow needs and preferences regarding cost.

The best locations for installing clamp-on sub meters to monitor water usage are typically at the main supply line before it branches off to individual units. This allows you to capture the total flow of water used by each unit effectively. Ensure that the meter is installed in a location with strong Wi-Fi connectivity and access to an electrical outlet, as these factors are crucial for reliable operation.
To track monthly charges through an app, choose a smart water meter that integrates with your smartphone or tablet. Many models, like the bluebot mentioned, come with dedicated apps that provide real-time monitoring of water usage data. These apps often allow you to set alerts for unusual consumption patterns and generate reports detailing monthly usage and costs, making it easy to manage billing based on actual consumption per unit.

what flow meter work best connect pex tubing for monitor water usage rv trailer?
For monitoring water usage in an RV trailer with PEX tubing, a 3/4" plastic body meter that is suitable for below-ground applications would be ideal. The suggested model from the link provided is both durable and reliable for outdoor use. If you're looking for a more economical option, there’s also a less expensive plastic meter designed primarily for indoor applications, which can still be effective if used correctly.
Both options come with 3/4" male NPT threaded connections and will require an adapter to connect to your 3/4" female NPT pipe. It's important to choose the cold water version of the meter and specify 1 pulse per gallon for accurate readings. These meters are readily available and can ship quickly if you need them soon.
what flow meter do you recommend for measuring a slow leak in gallons per hour?
For measuring a slow leak at around 1 gallon per hour, it might be challenging since many standard flow meters require a minimum flow rate to function effectively. The WM-PD series low flow meter is an option, but it's important to note that its detection threshold is approximately 6 gallons per hour for the 3/4" size. This means it may not reliably capture flows as low as you're interested in. It would be advisable to look for specialized low-flow meters designed specifically for very low rates or consider other measurement methods that can accurately gauge such small amounts of water flow. If you have further inquiries about specific models or alternatives, feel free to ask!

how can i monitor my water meter from my smartphone and reset it monthly for billing purposes?
To monitor your water meter from your smartphone, you can use a smart water meter like the Bluebot. This device streams data to a cloud server that you can access through a mobile app. It does not have a physical display or reset function; instead, it allows you to view monthly usage by integrating information from your most recent water bill into the app. You'll need to fill out a form in the setup process using details from that bill, and then it will "dollarize" your usage for easier billing management. Make sure to install the meter on the appropriate line after any plumbing splits to accurately measure only what goes directly to your unit.

what device should I use to measure and record daily water usage in a commercial restroom building?
To measure and record daily water usage in a commercial restroom building, you might consider using remote reading meters that can provide daily usage data. However, it's important to ensure that the meter is installed in an area with access to power and strong WiFi for effective operation. Traditional meters typically only offer a running total of water usage since the last check, so opting for remote reading options will give you more detailed insights into your consumption patterns on a daily basis.
why aren't the water meter reed switches counting correctly at higher flows?
The water meter reed switches may not be counting correctly at higher flows due to the pulse rate configuration of the meter and the limitations of the switch. The current setup is designed to send 10 pulses per gallon, which equates to one pulse for every 0.1 gallons. At a flow rate of 18 gallons per minute (gpm), this would result in 180 pulses per minute or about three pulses per second, which exceeds the maximum capability of the switch. This high frequency can lead to missed or skipped pulses as the system struggles to keep up with rapid changes in flow.
If your system operates closer to lower flow rates, such as around 4 gpm, it could handle that amount since it corresponds to approximately 40 open/close cycles per minute—well within what the switch can manage. However, any significant increase beyond its specifications may cause inaccuracies in counting due to its inability to register all incoming signals effectively.
For adjustments or further technical discussions regarding your equipment's compatibility with different configurations, reaching out directly might provide additional insights and solutions tailored specifically for your situation.

how can I accurately measure water usage for each apartment?
To accurately measure water usage for each apartment, installing individual water meters for each unit is the most effective approach. This allows you to monitor and record the water consumption specific to each apartment, providing clear insights into usage patterns.
When selecting meters, consider the line size of your plumbing—commonly ranging from 1/2", 3/4", to 1". The typical flow rates for these sizes are between 12-15 gallons per minute. Mechanical meters that can be read manually are a good choice; their prices typically range from $55 to $350 depending on materials (brass vs plastic) and installation orientation (vertical or horizontal).
By keeping detailed records of meter readings over time, you can better understand where water is being used in each unit and identify any potential leaks or unusual consumption patterns. what specs need for sewage meter and holding tank installation
For a sewage meter installation, particularly in a holding tank application, it's important to consider several specifications:
1. **Type of Flow Meter**: Determine whether an ultrasonic or magnetic flow meter is suitable for your needs. Ultrasonic meters can provide accurate measurements without moving parts and are often used for applications with varying flow rates.
2. **Pipe Size and Configuration**: Ensure the selected meter is compatible with the size of the pipe and that it can handle full pipe conditions, as most flow meters require this for proper operation.
3. **Particulate Handling Capability**: If dealing with large particulates typical in sewage applications, choose a meter designed to manage these conditions effectively. Some options may include paddle wheel designs that are more tolerant of particulates.
4. **Flow Range**: Assess the expected flow range to select a meter that accurately measures both low and high flows if necessary.
5. **Installation Requirements**: Consider any specific installation requirements such as mounting positions (horizontal or vertical) and access for maintenance.
6. **Durability & Material Compatibility**: Ensure materials used in construction are resistant to corrosive substances commonly found in sewage systems.
7. **Calibration & Maintenance Needs**: Look into how easily the meter can be calibrated and maintained over time, especially since some may have replaceable components like paddle wheels.
8. **Budget Considerations**: Be mindful of costs associated with different types of meters; advanced technology like ultrasonic or magnetic meters tends to come at higher price points but offers benefits worth considering depending on your application needs.
These factors will help ensure you choose an appropriate sewage metering solution tailored to your specific situation.
transceiver compatible water meter actually submetering options advise client accuracy sub-billing?
When considering submetering options for accurate billing, it's important to evaluate the pulse rate of the water meters in relation to your specific application. Typically, residential applications utilize a maximum pulse rate of 10 pulses per gallon or less, with many systems operating at 1 pulse per gallon. This can lead to missed pulses if the transceiver is overwhelmed by too many contacts.
For enhanced accuracy and reduced error potential, you might want to explore encoded meters instead of traditional pulse meters. Encoded meters provide direct readings without needing to count individual pulses, minimizing data inaccuracies that can arise from back flow issues or high-frequency pulsing.
It's also worth noting that all water meters have an inherent accuracy range defined by standards; they may be off by +/-3%. Therefore, it’s unlikely any submetering system will perfectly align with utility meter readings due to variations in measurement times and flow rates.
To ensure compatibility and find the best solutions for your needs, consider reviewing tested water meter options provided by manufacturers or getting a thorough evaluation based on your property specifications through inquiry forms offered online.

why lasting months
The longevity of the reed switch can be influenced by several factors, including the flow rate of water, electrical specifications, and environmental conditions. If you're experiencing issues with a switch lasting only months, it could be due to operating at high flow rates that may wear out the thin metal piece inside the switch more quickly than expected. Additionally, if there is any possibility of over-voltage or excessive current beyond what the switch is rated for (20mA and 24V DC max), this could also contribute to premature failure. It's important to ensure that all components are properly matched for your specific application and that they operate within their intended parameters.

why change old meters readings online manually readings not matching?
There are several reasons why the readings from old meters might differ from manual readings or online portal data. Over time, older mechanical meters can become less accurate as they age, which may lead to a decline in their ability to measure water flow correctly. This could result in discrepancies between the actual usage and what is recorded.
When new meters are installed, they tend to be more accurate and reliable than their older counterparts. If you notice a significant difference in readings after replacing old meters with new ones, it’s normal for there to be some variation due to this improved accuracy.
If you suspect that the differences are alarming or excessive, it would be prudent to check for leaks in your plumbing system. Meters only register movement when water flows through them; thus, if you're seeing unexpectedly high numbers on new meters without corresponding increases in use, investigating potential leaks would be advisable.
Lastly, ensuring consistent methods of reading—whether manually or via an online portal—is important for maintaining accurate records and understanding trends over time. Confirming how these readings are taken can provide further clarity on any discrepancies observed.

can you clarify how the city's water usage calculation relates to the submeters and what the significant differences are in units used?
The city's water usage calculation is typically based on a set billing cycle, which may not align perfectly with the readings from your sub-meters. Sub-meters measure actual consumption at specific intervals, while the city aggregates data over longer periods for billing purposes.
When you have a 10-day variance between your reading and the city's collection dates, it can lead to discrepancies in reported usage. The significant differences in units often arise from how each system records data—sub-meters provide real-time or near-real-time measurements, whereas city meters reflect cumulative usage over their own defined cycles.
To better understand these differences, it's advisable to align your sub-meter readings closer to when the city collects its data. This way, you'll get a clearer picture of any variances and can address any potential issues more effectively.
